    SAGE History

Early in 1994 members of the Broward county community determined that the needs of maturing gays and lesbians were not being addressed adequately by existing organizations.

Using New York’s already established SAGE (Services & Advocacy for Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual & Transgender Elders) group as a model, local volunteers formed the necessary committees and a SAGE Board of Directors was formed and obtained it’s Federal 501(c)3 nonprofit status.

Our training and consulting are available nationally and internationally, in the United States, Puerto Rico, DC, Canada, and the UK.

Parties usually start at 6:30 PM with drinks, appetizers, and conversations; followed at 7:30 with 5 minutes of announcements and introductions of new men; followed by a delicious buffet dinner.
The name started in 1977, but it is helpful to know that we NOT a religious organization; we are men of many faiths and spiritualties and none. Through our network of partners, our national resource library, and our cultural competency training and consulting, we support LGBTQ+ elders, caregivers, and providers.
