Lately, the LGBTQ community is widely present in sports all over the world, with the majority of athletes coming out in the open to declare their orientation, unlike in the old days.

You will also find him trying out new tech-release gadgets as soon as they hit the market.

The road to LGBTQIA+ visibility in sports has been a long and bumpy one, especially in professional basketball.

The #1 draft pick in 2013, Brittney has continued making history, becoming one of Time’s 100 Most Influential in 2023.

Kokia played as a center/power forward position and was a member of the Israel national basketball team.

Marco Lehmann

Marco Lehmann is a Swiss professional basketball player who came out publicly as gay in an essay and video through The International Basketball Federation (FIBA) in 2021. With two dazzling appearances on the WNBA All-Star team, Wicks proved that her star power knew no bounds.

Bill Kennedy

Bill Kennedy was born on October 9, 1965 in Phoenix, Arizona.

It was during that season that Gordon came out as gay and participated in his first game in Division I men’s basketball of the National Collegiate Athletic Association.

Over the years, several brave NBA players have mustered the courage to publicly reveal their sexual orientation, breaking barriers and paving the way for LGBTQ+ inclusion in the world of basketball. This Sparks team is in no way a playoff contender, but if Brink is fully healthy I think they could end up surprising me. 

The gay news isn’t all bad though, Emma Cannon has the cutest family in the entire universe and just seeing their photos gives me baby fever.

Seattle Storm

This Storm team was plagued by drama in the offseason.

On October 29, 2013, he wed Stuart Serkin in the US Supreme Court. While they certainly won’t be winning a championship anytime soon, they have quite a few pieces that will be great to watch play together, including gay player Emily Engstler, who’s minutes will surely increase this year, and rookies Sonia Citron, Lucy Olson, and Kiki Iriafen.

His passion for sports began back in the day when he started playing soccer and aspired to play for Palermo in Italy. I have high hopes for this team to at least be middle of the road, which is more I could say in years past.

Las Vegas Aces

The Aces are a very good team and as long as A’ja Wilson and Chelsea Gray are both there they’ll always have a shot at the championship. This group could definitely make a splash despite how disjointed it initially seemed.

Will Sheridan

Former Villanova basketball player Will Sheridan came out as gay publicly and went on to play professionally overseas before shifting to a music career and LGBTQIA+ advocacy. Arike has been on this team for years, but the rest of the cast is completely shook up. With her talent and authenticity, Chelsea is a role model and inspiration.

In a heartwarming moment in 2023, Erica took her love to the next level by proposing to her girlfriend, Danielle Edwards, an assistant coach for SMU’s women’s basketball team.
