Actor Lukas Gage has opened up once again about his sexuality, revealing that while he’s had relationships with women, he’s struggled to connect with them emotionally.
Speaking on In Your Dreams, a podcast hosted by Owen Thiele, The White Lotus star shared:
“I’m like 10 per cent straight or 10 per cent bi.”
“But I emotionally can’t.
He said,
“I immediately start bawling, and I talk about how I’m sleeping with my neighbor and hiding it from everybody.”Lukas Gage added that he was 19 or 20 at the time, and the neighbour was like a 'bro' figure/friend he used to hang out with. He jokingly added that the “gayest thing” he’s done? That moment at the audition prompted him to call his mother and tell her the truth.
He recalled,
"I call my mom and I just start crying… and I tell her, and she was like, 'Shut up. This back-and-forth made the process of accepting himself slower and more confusing.In 2024, Lukas Gage communicated to the hosts that he was in a period of self-reflection. Definitely a strong, unapologetic statement. After all, who says you can’t be a little straight, a little bi, and a lot gay all at once?

“Yeah, I’m like 10% straight or 10% bi,” the actor shared nonchalantly, putting to rest any idea that sexual identity is a binary choice.
He explained,
“After like a month or two, he was like, ‘All right. He’s still hooking up with women.During his appearance on the In Your Dreams With Owen Thiele podcast, the actor explained that he does not see himself as fully gay or fully straight. “That was probably why I was such a horrible boyfriend,” he said with humor but also clarity. He’s not interested in fitting into a box or conforming to anyone’s expectations of what it means to be queer.
That’s probably why I was such a horrible boyfriend to all the girlfriends I had until I was, like, 20.”
The candid comments come after a highly publicised marriage — and breakup — with celebrity hairstylist Chris Appleton, which ended in divorce just months after their 2023 wedding.
A Short-Lived Marriage & Public Apology
Gage and Appleton tied the knot in April 2023, but by November, Appleton had filed for divorce, citing “irreconcilable differences.” The couple reached a settlement in mid-2024.
Following the split, Gage publicly apologised to singer Shania Twain, who had performed at their Las Vegas wedding ceremony.
“I’m sorry for wasting her time,” he said with a mix of humour and regret.
Reflecting in His Memoir
In his memoir I Wrote This For Attention, Gage delves deeper into his evolving understanding of his sexuality.
“There was a lot of confusion because there was love for the girls I dated and the females I was with,” he wrote.
“But there was always something inside that I couldn’t quite articulate or figure out.”
Gage’s honesty about his sexual identity has struck a chord with fans, offering a refreshingly nuanced view in an industry that often demands clear-cut labels.
