Thanks for subscribing! Sylvester, the late disco diva of the ’80s, was one of the first to target gay audiences, and he established a proud tradition of producing multi-layered tracks to which even the most rhythmically-challenged could dance.

You can dance with anyone — or no one.

The DJs there stay away from remixes of radio hits and focus on music designed for hi-energy dancing.

Why go? Your calendar is full with a stop at this hotspot – there are RuPaul’s Drag Race revisits on Fridays at 8pm and 10pm Friday Feels drag shows, Mayhem Saturdays dance parties, twice-monthly Wednesday Pop Quiz trivia, Supernature disco dances on the third Friday of each month, and Sunday disco brunches.

We love: What’s there not to love – each night is a different vibe for you to sip, dine and dance.

12pm-midnight

What is it?  Open since 1987, Midway Café is one of Boston’s more established LGBTQ hotspots, topping locals’ and out-of-towners’ lists as an iconic entertainment destination.

Why go? Neighborhood-goers also revere this dive bar’s live music scene, so this no-nonsense spot is happening no matter which night of the week it is.

We love: Located in Jamaica Plain, the nightclub hosts bands and dance nights, including its longstanding Queeraoke every Thursday at 8pm, one of the city’s longest running queer nights.

With Karaoke Wednesdays and Drag Race Fridays as part of its regular programming, Club Café proves it’s the place to be any day of the week.

Why go? The restaurant, with its distinctive conservatory overlooking Columbus Avenue, serves lunch, dinner and Sunday brunch. The 

other clubs on this list are generally more affordable, with cover charges ranging from 100-200 baht ($3-6 USD) and drinks costing around 100-200 baht ($3-6 USD) as well.

Tips when going to nightclubs in Thailand:

1. Be aware of your surroundings: While Bangkok is generally a safe city, it's always a good idea to be aware of your surroundings when going out at night.

   Drinking is optional.

   To be fair, there are straight clubs that play great music and have fun, nonjudgmental crowds, and there are gay bars that are nothing more than S and M (Stand and Model) clubs. It's a great place to grab a drink and watch some of the city's top drag queens perform.

   Fake Club:

   This underground club is a favorite among Bangkok's LGBTQ+ community.

   As long as you aren’t there to cause trouble, you can stay. And numerous dance masters and producers market their goods to gay clubs specifically. Pick your poison because they have it all. I went with three friends — a lesbian and a straight couple — to a gay nightclub a while back, but was separated from them immediately after entering the crowded club.

   That may seem obvious, but it’s amazing how many people enter what is clearly a gay bar and say, “Hey, thar’s a bunch a queers in ‘ere.” And the homosexuals who are there will be dancing with one another, holding hands, hugging, and, yes, kissing.

   Not only was Massachusetts was the first state to legalize gay marriage, but we also know how to show off our pride in style.

   Having one sober person in your group will not only help insure you get home safely, it could also help scare off those who want to take advantage of any intoxicated state you might be in.

   Ultimately, where you go out for a night’s entertainment should be decided by where you feel comfortable. Because it’s in a residential neighborhood—a very tolerant one, we suspect—there’s a midnight curfew.
